A player culture

Built by players, for players. That is the whole idea. Athletes control their own profile, link their own socials, mark themselves available in the travel ball portal and connect with each other in the chat room before every list drop. We aim to be number one in showcasing high school athletes across the United States — and the way we get there is by keeping the players at the center of it.

Always free for athletes

HSPrepStandouts is a player-based platform with a free subscription. No fees to create a profile, no fees to appear on a list, no paywall on rankings. If you make a Top 100, you also unlock exclusive members-only gear with a verification code we email you.

More states go live as the database grows. If your state is not up yet, register anyway — profiles are what open the next state.

How we rank our players

Rankings are built from a blend of public evidence and coach input, not politics. Here is exactly what goes into a list:

1. 01

   Social media presence

   We look at whether an athlete is actively posting — highlight clips, game updates, workout and recruiting news. Players who put their work out there are easier to evaluate, and it shows they are invested in their own recruitment.

2. 02

   Public high school stats

   Numbers pulled from publicly available school, conference and state sources for the season in question. We use what can be verified, not what gets claimed.

3. 03

   Rankings and results

   Team and individual results — conference finishes, postseason runs, all-conference and all-state recognition — weighted against level of competition.

4. 04

   Active and healthy for the season

   Only active players are considered. Athletes with a known season-ending injury for that year are held out of that season's list and reconsidered the following cycle.

5. 05

   Coach input

   Registered high school and travel coaches vote each year from Oct. 31 to midnight Feb. 1. Those ballots feed both list consideration and our Player of the Year announcements for 2028, 2029 and 2030 in softball and flag football.

6. 06

   Athlete verification

   Once an athlete claims their profile and verifies their linked socials, their photo, school and handles show up next to their name on the list — and they unlock their Top 100 merch code.

Every list is reviewed before it drops, and we welcome corrections. If a stat, school or handle is wrong on your profile, update it from your dashboard or reach out and we will fix it on the next review.
